FAQs
💰 Why didn't you open a store to make money from this?
Here's a long list of reasons why. You'll want to zoom in if you care to read:
- I'm not interested in being a YouTuber for a living anymore
- I don't want to charge people $25 for a $10 shirt
- Trying to keep profit margins low is impossible when final shipping and tax costs keep changing and fluctuate wildly (especially on overseas orders)
- Cutting off international orders and going US-only would suck
- I'm also supposed to legally register in every US state and country to be authorized to collect sales tax or VAT (which is a privacy nightmare for me)
- Personal information compliance is something I'll also have to adhere to since I'll be sitting on a pile of names and home addresses from the orders (which is a privacy nightmare for YOU)
- There's still lots of other domestic and international selling laws that I have no idea how to handle and don't want to try hiding from
- Doing all this while monitoring and managing orders (including customer service for damaged goods) is a colossal timesink
- Having someone else manage all this for me would mean charging $25 a shirt and worrying about growing a customer base when I don't even want to deal with having a store at all
- The reason why I care so much about doing this right or not doing it at all is because I hate sleazy, overpriced merch that's clearly just dropshipped from Printful or mass-produced on Gildan blanks to scalp fans (ESPECIALLY when it's a zero-effort YouTuber cashgrab)
The TL;DR is that selling merch takes way more time and effort than most people realize, and I want to do other things with my life instead of spending it on running a store. So if you want to monetarily support me, the ONLY way to do so is through my support page.
💠Why are you shilling Printful? Do I have to use it?
I'm not sponsored by Printful or anything, it's just the same printing service that I used for my original wavetro shop back in 2021. From my own research of print-on-demand websites, nothing currently comes close to Printful's quality and international footprint.
But feel free to use any other POD website you want, or even a local shirt-printing shop! Just note that these print files are RGB, not CMYK. Also, you might not be able to get the stitched designs made anywhere else other than Printful. Let's hope they continue to support 6-color embroidery...
🎨 Can I use these files for something else?
Please note that all the files on this page (excluding the 3D assets) are fully-copyrighted at this time, and that I reserve all rights and retain full ownership over them. As long as you only use these files to make your own wavetro merch or do anything else that doesn't resell or repurpose the designs for profit, I won't make a fuss. This excludes the 3D assets, which each have their own licenses for reuse.
But if you're wondering about other things you can print these designs on, try experimenting with these: notebooks, mugs, mouse pads, phone cases, bags, stickers, wall art, etc...
💔 My Printful order arrived but something's wrong with it!
Please also note that I do not owe you compensation for any issues with your Printful order(s) that use these designs, but I'll try to still help you to the best of my ability if you get in touch! Printful usually offers free replacements on any orders that have printing errors or shipping damage, but you're out of luck if you ordered the wrong size or want to return the item.
It's especially important that you contact me if you're having an issue with an embroidered order that Printful refuses to resolve. Getting the print files correct for embroidered things can be tricky, so I might've messed up!
💻 How do I use the 3D assets?
You'll need at least a moderate amount of Blender 3D experience to use these files. Not anyone can just use them, and I'm unfortunately not offering 3D lessons or anything. Email me if you run into any technical issues with the assets though.
🌊 Can you add more 3D assets?
Those of you already experienced with Blender may be curious if I'll be sharing more from my old animations now that I've stopped. Please note that I'm still deciding whether I'm going to open-source anything else or not. The possibility of people making minimal edits to my work and then pretending they made the whole thing really puts me on edge, but I'll eventually get over it and share more assets one day.
🌠Can I use something from the fan art gallery?
No. Only the original artist can give you permission to use their work on this. All fan art galleries from 2022 onward have some links to the artists' pages if you want to try asking, but assume it's forbidden otherwise.
